Rosenior’s strange sub decision could trigger Chelsea loan or sale for wonderkid

Chelsea have just cruised to a win over Crystal Palace, beating the Eagles 3-1 at Selhurst Park.

In terms of the scoring, it went perfectly for Chelsea. One goal just before half time, one goal just after, then a third to seal the game later on. Even a goal for ten man Palace late on didn’t spook Liam Rosenior’s team.

Given there’s a massive game to come in midweek, it was a perfect day to build up a lead early, especially against a team down to team already struggling for form. It gave Rosenior the chance to rotate and change things up in the second half, and he did so. But some fans weren’t happy with the decisions he made.

Young academy defender Josh Acheampong has been linked with a move away from Chelsea because of a lack of minutes – with Palace ironically the team being connected with interest in the teenage starlet.

This was the perfect day to give him some time on the pitch – the team were 3-0 up and cruising against ten men. Yet bizarrely, Rosenior chose to bring on Wesley Fofana (who is supposedly being used as sparingly as possible given his injury history) and Jorrel Hato.

Acheampong sat on the bench for the whole game. We wonder if that’s made his mind up about seeking a move? Why won’t these coaches trust these exceptional young players?

Joao Pedro doubled Chelsea’s lead with a powerful finish through Dean Henderson after he was set up by Estevao. He’s done his case for starting on Wednesday a massive load of good today.

Estevao Willian opened the scoring in this game with a superb run and finish after he pounced on a Palace mistake.
