Manchester United fans have fumed over Lisandro Martinez's own goal to give Arsenal the lead following his public clash with Paul Scholes.
Michael Carrick's side were outstanding against Manchester City in the 2-0 win last Saturday but found themselves up against it at the Emirates against Mikel Arteta's Premier League table-toppers.
Arsenal started the brightest but United appeared to have weathered the storm until the deadlock was broken in an incredibly frustrating fashion from the visitors' point of view.

A deep cross from Piero Hincapie was too deep before it was recycled and smashed goalwards. Under pressure from Jurrien Timber, Martinez was unable to sort his feet out as he missed his clearance before turning the ball into the net past Senne Lammens with his standing foot.
The goal went down as an own goal against Martinez in the 29th minute, who this week fired back at criticism from United legend Scholes after he capably marked Erling Haaland out of the derby.
United found themselves behind for just eight minutes when Bryan Mbeumo levelled the scores after pouncing on a sloppy Martin Zubimendi backpass. The scoreline remained 1-1 at half-time.
Furious United fans took to X to vent at Martinez's own goal, with one user saying: "Scholes was always right in a back 2 Martinez is a liability."
Another fan wrote: "Scholes currently clowning Martinez as we speak." A third added: "Somwhere that grumpy faced paul scholes will have a smile after seeing lisandro martinez score an own goal." While another echoed: "It was coming Martinez or not. I am more annoyed that Scholes found something to rant about."
Ahead of the Manchester derby victory, Scholes and Nicky Butt joked about Martinez's ability to handle Haaland. The Argentine snapped back at the comments after the win, inviting Scholes to his house to discuss the matter 'face to face'.

While Butt advised Martinez to 'f****** grow up'. Scholes spoke on the matter in more details on The Overlap, saying: "No comment. I didn't realise how many Argentinean friends I had until this week. F****** hell, I've had some s*** off them, Jesus.
"But hey, look, that was my opinion. Do you know what? What we said probably wasn't great when you look back. "Carragher then probed if he was retracting his previous statements, to which Scholes firmly replied: "No, I'm not apologising for it, no.
"The thing we were trying to say was - we thought - and it still is: physically, it's a mismatch."
