Luka Doncic becomes youngest player in NBA history to hit major milestone

Luka Doncic continues to rewrite the NBA history books.

With his production from long range during the Los Angeles Lakers’ 116-110 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday night, Doncic, 26, officially became the youngest player in league history to make 1,500 career 3-pointers.

Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum was the previous record holder, but Doncic bested him by 32 days. It's an impressive feat for Doncic, even though it's a record that might not last long given the high rate that young players shoot threes in the league today.

After the game, Doncic received more praise from Lakers head coach J.J. Redick for his defensive effort than his history from long range.

"We counted after the game, he had six straight stops where they targeted him," Redick said of Doncic. "Just a fantastic job from him. Then [he] makes the game-sealing defensive play with the charge on [Naji] Marshall."
