Manchester United have made it back-to-back wins in the Premier League by beating leaders Arsenal on their own turf.
In the space of a week, Manchester United interim head coach Michael Carrick has beaten Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City and Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.
United had not beaten Arsenal away in the league since 2017 under Jose Mourinho. Goals from Bryan Mbeumo, Patrick Dorgu and Matheus Cunha put an end to that streak.

Under Carrick, Dorgu has been pushed further forward, and he is thriving in his new role.
Stung by set pieces
Arsenal and United rank as the two best set-piece sides in the Premier League, and the Gunners found their equaliser from a corner.
Senne Lammens made a stunning close-range save to deny Arsenal from a corner early on, and Mikel Merino scored Arsenal’s second from a scrappy set piece.
United also threatened from set pieces, but weren’t able to use it as a route to goal.
Bryan Mbeumo hits half-century
United responded brilliantly to Arsenal’s opener, and Bryan Mbeumo capitalised on a mistake from Martin Zubimendi to draw the visitors level.
It means that Mbeumo has extended his lead as United’s top scorer in 2025/26, and this goal also means he has hit a major milestone in the Premier League.

It was Mbeumo’s 50th Premier League goal, and his eighth in a United shirt.
Matheus Cunha is becoming a super sub
Cunha starred against Arsenal on his United debut in the season opener at Old Trafford, but he started the match at The Emirates on the bench.
However, it was Cunha who Carrick turned to when Mbeumo began to tire, and the Brazilian made an instant impact by scoring a brilliant curling effort to put United back in the lead.
Cunha had a brilliant impact from the bench in the Manchester derby and he did it again in North London!
Michael Carrick goes back-to-back against Mikel Arteta
Five years ago, Carrick’s United beat Arsenal 3-2 during his short stint as a caretaker manager following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s sacking.
Across his two spells as United boss, Carrick has beaten world-class managers, and he was able to replicate his result from his first spell against Arteta.
Ineos insist that a permanent head coach will arrive in the summer, and Carrick is certainly putting his name at the top of the list.
