Following Mbeumo’s first-half impact, the Cameroon international came close to pulling off a moment of pure magic after an outrageous looping effort.

Bruno Fernandes clipped the ball to Mbeumo, whose first-time volley left David Raya scrambling back to the Arsenal net before it unfortunately landed out of play.

Gary Neville admitted that he could see what Mbeumo was attempting to do in the moment and the shift of momentum that Man Utd felt in the tail end of the half.

“You can see what Mbeumo was trying to do,” he said on Sky Sports.

“He sees Raya off his line and just helps the ball on. United will go into half-time full of confidence.”

Neville’s feelings around Man Utd players receiving a much-needed boost in momentum came to fruition only five minutes into the second half on Sunday.

Mbeumo was the catalyst for the Red Devils not losing hope after the first-half mistake from Lisandro Martinez, with United stunning Arsenal by taking the lead.

Fernandes set up Patrick Dorgu and the latter pulled off a superb long-range volley from outside the box, which crashed in off the underside of David Raya’s crossbar.

Mbeumo was withdrawn in the second half and interim head coach Michael Carrick brought summer signing Matheus Cunha on in the 68th minute of the clash.
