Leeds United will now be confident of completing a deal to sign Axel Disasi from Chelsea.

Disasi is back in training with Chelsea under Liam Rosenior, having been frozen out by Enzo Maresca earlier in the campaign.

The Whites could be in the market for a new centre-back after Jaka Bijol picked up an injury at Leeds that could see him ruled out for multiple weeks.

It may prove to be an ideal opportunity for Sebastiaan Bornauw to show his qualities at Leeds, unless Daniel Farke is to bring a new option in.

The door appears to be open for a Disasi exit at Stamford Bridge, something which may see the door soon swing open at Elland Road.

David Ornstein reveals defender move at Chelsea

Disasi was once linked to Manchester United alongside Robin Koch as the Leeds man became of interest to the Red Devils.

A deal for neither defender went through at Old Trafford, and now the ex-France international finds himself in the bomb squad with the Blues.

Rosenior has welcomed the centre-half back into training in the capital, but that doesn’t look likely to result in Premier League minutes.

That is especially the case after David Ornstein reported on Sunday that Chelsea have triggered their clause to recall Aaron Anselmino from his loan at Borussia Dortmund.

The 20-year-old is being brought back to be assessed while Rosenior and Co. evaluate the next steps for the young defender.

Having the Argentine back from the Bundesliga could be the ideal opportunity for Leeds to get hold of Disasi before the window shuts.

Aaron Anselmino opens door for Leeds United to sign Disasi

There is every chance that the Blues were keeping hold of Disasi just in case they hit a defensive injury crisis at some point this season.

That hasn’t resulted in a Premier League chance for the Frenchman, and he could take his chance to move on now that Anselmino is back at Stamford Bridge.

The 20-year-old is coming off the back of 10 appearances at Borussia Dortmund, so is likely to command minutes ahead of the ex-Monaco man.

Disasi could see his move to Leeds materialise, something which may not be exciting for the LS11 faithful, but he brings a raft of experience with him.

It would make total sense to get him in as a squad option, especially with Farke’s men looking destined for an increasingly intense relegation battle.
