Tottenham Hotspur have the opportunity to freshen up their squad with some new faces

Tottenham Hotspur drew 2-2 away at Burnley on Saturday afternoon. Defensive pair Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven got their goals against the Clarets at Turf Moor. They are sat down in 14th place in the Premier League table after 23 fixtures.

The London outfit are eight points above the relegation zone. Pressure is growing on Thomas Frank amid their inconsistent form. The ex-Brentford man was picked as their replacement for Ange Postecoglou last summer.

Tottenham Hotspur eye Felix Nmecha deal

Nmecha, 25, under contract at Dortmund until the summer of 2028 meaning they are under no pressure to sell him in this transfer window and can wait for big money. He has made 29 appearances in all competitions, 19 of which have come in the league, and he has chipped in with five goals and three assists. The Hamburg-born man signed for his current club back in 2023.

The Germany international, who has six caps to his name, started his career at Manchester City and rose up through their academy ranks. He was a regular for the North West side at various different youth levels before playing three times for their first-team as a youngster. Wolfsburg then snapped him up in 2021.

Nmecha went on to become a key player during his time at the Volkswagen Arena. He scored three goals in 50 matches before heading out the exit door. The midfielder is now facing an uncertain future amid talk of a potential return to England.

Would Felix Nmecha suit Tottenham Hostpur?

Spurs could see Nmecha as someone to add more quality to his squad. If he joined them, he would give them more firepower in the middle of the park. In addition, he would offer Frank something different to pick from in his starting XI.

Speaking after their point against Burnley, Frank said: “We just need to keep going. We do so many things right. But there's no doubt, that when it's not dropping so easy for us, the consistent performances we've [produced], they actually are in an OK level.

“But apparently, because of where we are now, we need to do more, to make sure we get the wins over the line. Especially in the Premier League. One of the bits is to play every third or fourth day - to perform - that demands a lot of mentality. We have a few injuries, that doesn't help, but that's part of it. Never any complaints from me, that's reality. But that's where we need to be strong enough as a team to keep performing every third or fourth day.”

He added: “I think there's definitely something [about having] the ability to handle setbacks in games. It's something we're working very hard on, which I actually think we've done better and better. At 1-1, the first part of the second half is an area we need to do better and the right things. I think after the 2-1 goal they found extra will-power and determination, which is hugely beneficial.”
