John Terry has gone viral after posting a video in the wake of Arsenal's 3-2 loss against Manchester United on Sunday. The former Chelsea captain took the chance to rub salt into the wounds of his old rivals.
Mikel Arteta's side thought they had salvaged a point late on when Mikel Merino scored to make the game 2-2, following goals from Bryan Mbeumo, Patrick Dorgu and an own goal from Lisandro Martinez. But Matheus Cunha then put United back in front just three minutes later.
Defeat saw Arsenal miss a chance to extend their lead at the Premier League's summit, but conceding three times also took their goals against tally to 17 for the season. That ensured that Chelsea's record of 15 goals conceded in a single term was safe for another year, much to the delight of Terry.

Reacting to the scoreline on Instagram, Terry initially uploaded an image of him alongside other members of Chelsea's formidable backline from the 2004/05 season. Writing, "The record is safe for another year," he followed that up with a separate video on his account with the Arsenal game still unfolding. He said: "January the 25th, 2026 and the record is safe.
"Still 25 minutes to go but the record is safe for another season. So Petr Cech, Paolo Ferrera, Ricky Carvalho, William Gallas, it's time to celebrate with a bottle or a glass of red wine.
"I'm going for the bottle for celebration tonight. But guys let me know your thoughts. Can this record of 15 goals conceded in one season ever be beaten? I'm saying no."
Terry went on to admit he was concerned about the record being broken by Arteta's men, stating: "I have to say I was a little bit worried the way Arsenal started the season and how well they started but it's only January and the record has already gone and it's safe for another year.
"I still get frustrated today, it could have been sub 10."

While Terry might well have made his comments in jest, he makes a very good point when it comes to Chelsea's long-standing record. Arsenal have had the best defence in the league so far this season, yet they have still surpassed the Blues' total after just 23 matches.
Jose Mourinho's 2004/05 side displaced Arsenal to claim the achievement, with the Gunners only shipping 17 goals during the 1998/99 campaign. The closest competitor in recent years have been Liverpool, whose 2018/19 team let 22 goals in.
Arteta's team might well enter the top 10 teams with the fewest goals conceded in a season, but it would take some doing considering that there is so much football left to play. They can concede a maximum of eight more times if they are to take the place of Liverpool's 2005/06 side in tenth.
