'Fake News': Rich Paul blasts reported Mavs trade demands for Anthony Davis

The prominent sports agent denied reports that he is pushing for an Anthony Davis trade in the Mavericks.

In the latest segment of his Game Over podcast with co-host Max Kellerman, Rich Paul dismissed the recent narratives that he is pushing an Anthony Davis trade out of the Dallas Mavericks.

“I know what was said. That thing was aggregated. This is the power of the internet. If you’re wondering why Rich Paul has a podcast, this is part of the reason why. ... The reality of it is, that’s fake news," he said. "When you have a player that’s on a team, it’s not like you want guys to move for the sake of being moved. If a guy is happy where they are, great. You care about people’s family, you care about the guys well being, and you care if they’re happy.

"From a business perspective, you want guys to be paid. I really don’t care where the money comes from, the money can come from the 31st team in the NBA for all I care. As long as my guy is in position to get paid, that’s all I want to do."

Mainly, ESPN's Tim MacMahon reported that Paul demanded a Davis deal from the Mavs ahead of the trade deadline, as the high-profile agent believes it's the best situation for the 32-year-old in his looming contract status.

Davis, who is owed $58.5 million next season and has a $62.8 million player option in 2027-28, will be eligible for an extension in the upcoming offseason.

In his latest report, the Mavs reporter revealed that Davis is comfortable in his current situation in Dallas despite Paul's trade demands.

From the latest developments, the trade interest around Davis has significantly declined following his hand injury that will sideline him at least until March for the Mavs. The Atlanta Hawks and the Toronto Raptors are no longer interested in discussing a potential transaction for the star big man.

The oft-injured All-Star only appeared in 20 games so far this season.

"This idea that I don’t want a player somewhere, that’s not true," Paul added.
