Manchester United star Patrick Dorgu has credited Patrice Evra following his goal against Arsenal in the Premier League. The Denmark star scored a stunning goal in the 3-2 win at the Emirates on Sunday, January 25.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Evra posted a video of his reactions to Dorgu's goal along with a clip of the strike. He heaped praise on the defender and said: "Dorgu! What you doing to us? What you doing to us, brother?"
The Manchester United star was quick to respond after the game, quoting the post and saying that he had learnt from the Frenchman. He recalled the former left-back's strike against Bayern Munich in 2014 and wrote:
"Learned from the best. I’ve seen your goal against Bayern"
Manchester United fans were handed a scare in the match after Dorgu left the game holding his hamstring. However, Michael Carrick has said that the Danish star had cramps and was not injured. He said (via ESPN):
"Pat's been a big player for us over last couple of games, in so many ways attacking wise, but defensively he has been immense as well against two teams that ask a lot of questions. I'm delighted for him because he has put so much into his performances. It's nice to see him smiling. He came off with a bit of cramp, so hopefully it's not much more than that."
Matheus Cunha scored a late winner on Sunday to help them climb back to fourth in the Premier League table, after Mikel Merino canceled out Dorgu's goal, which gave them the lead early in the second half.
Manchester United not getting carried away after Arsenal win
Manchester United coach Michael Carrick is adamant that his side cannot get carried away after beating Manchester City and Arsenal. He wants them to focus on the upcoming matches and carry the momentum, while also improving. He said:
"I'm not getting carried away. We've got some big games, bigger games, coming up, because every next game is the bigger game. So we're not getting carried away. We've got really important things coming up that we need to keep improving with."
"But there's a lot of emotion, a lot of energy and a lot of confidence that you can take from that [beating City and Arsenal], but be humble and understand how we've got these results. That's really important moving forward."
Manchester United have just the Premier League this season, after getting knocked out of the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup. They face Fulham next at Old Trafford on Sunday, February 1.
