Arsenal are poised for another active summer transfer window after a relatively quiet January. With just over a week remaining in the current window, the Gunners appear unlikely to complete any arrivals, though departures have been given the green light.
Among those exits is Ethan Nwaneri's temporary switch to Marseille, a decision Mikel Arteta has defended and one that has already been vindicated. Oleksandr Zinchenko is also anticipated to have his move rubber-stamped in the coming days, with Ajax securing him on a permanent deal.
The significant recruitment activity appears earmarked for the summer, with a marquee attacking signing a genuine prospect.
Atletico Madrid's Julian Alvarez has emerged as one target for Arsenal, whilst Barcelona are also monitoring the Argentine's situation.
With that in mind, football.london has rounded up the latest Arsenal transfer news and speculation as the January window deadline approaches.
£87m signing 'explored'
ESPN have reported that Arsenal are exploring a potential summer move for Alvarez. Their account suggests that an informal approach regarding his availability has been submitted.

Having acquired Alvarez from Manchester City for just over £80million, it has been further indicated that securing his signature would require a fee exceeding £87million.
When quizzed about whether Atletico fans could still have faith in the adaptable forward, Simeone's response was quite revealing.
He retorted: "Seriously? Are you seriously asking me that? The truth is that Julian Alvarez speaks for himself because of the name he has, the authority he carries, and the career he's built, right?".
Arteta sees immediate results
Ethan Nwaneri made an immediate impact just 13 minutes into his Marseille debut, netting a long-range left-footed strike after a brilliant run.
Arteta shared an insightful analysis on why this path was chosen for Nwaneri, a decision that quickly proved to be spot-on.

When probed about Nwaneri, Roberto De Zerbi offered a distinct yet unequivocal reply: "Ethan Nwaneri will become a top player; I'm sure about that."
The 18-year-old was utilised in a central role and played 58 minutes in their 3-1 triumph over Lens. Nwaneri had another shot on target shortly thereafter, further validating the decision to switch his position through his stellar performance.
