Manchester United are now targeting a move to sign a former Barcelona star, who's now valued at £43m, according to recent reports.
Carrick "enjoying" Man Utd role after strong start
Michael Carrick is in absolute dreamland at Man United. He's not just won any two first games, he's defeated Manchester City in the derby and then champions-elect Arsenal at The Emirates. He has instantly unshackled the Red Devils from Ruben Amorim's disastrous reign and he's enjoyed every minute of it so far.
The interim boss told reporters: "Listen I'm enjoying it, it's a fantastic position to be in. What happens next - I'm not going to be answering that every week. It is what it is. But at the moment I'm really enjoying it and I'll continue to do what I can.
"Like I said from day one, I'm here to do a job and make the team as good as we can be. To have that connection in two ways [as a fan and head coach] is special. We won't get carried away with two massive results - it's always about what's next, keeping our feet on the ground and doing the right things this week."
Whilst many have been quick to write Carrick out of contention for the permanent job, he's doing his chances no harm. If he is to be the next in line, too, then he may just receive the backing of INEOS.

As per reports in Brazil, relayed, Man United are now targeting a move to sign Vitor Roque from Palmeiras this summer. The 20-year-old forward could be on his way back to European football for the first time since struggling at Barcelona, especially since it's not just United in the race.
Alongside INEOS, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly set their sights on the Brazilian, sparking an all-Premier League transfer race.
Dubbed a "future superstar" by Como scout Ben Mattinson back in 2024, Roque is one of many players to return to Brazil ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
