It’s that time of the year when players start to deal with lingering injuries and try to get to the midseason All-Star break unscathed. Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry is no different.

After leading his team to a 111-85 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday, Curry claimed that he’s banged up, but remains hopeful to play in the back-to-back against Anthony Edwards and Co. on Monday night.

“Something flared up yesterday when we came over to get a workout in,” Curry revealed, via NBC Sports Bay Area.

“It was super weird. Like, I’ve had stuff going on — quads and whatnot — but it was something that I hadn’t felt before, so I definitely took advantage of the day off to get right, but hopefully that continues.”

Steph Curry’s status tomorrow night is TBD. Played through some knee soreness and scored 26 points this afternoon. Blowout win so Steve Kerr noted they were able to keep him below 28 minutes.

Further to Curry’s point, the postponement of Saturday’s Timberwolves versus Warriors game to Sunday may have allowed him to rest up his lingering injuries. However, the schedule change also means that the Warriors are now forced to play consecutive games against a tough opponent on the road.

“If everything goes well, yeah,” Curry said of his status for Monday’s game.

“With the recovery and all that between tonight, minutes weren’t crazy, so hopefully it will respond well.”

Curry, who has missed 11 of the Warriors’ 47 games thus far, can afford to sit out only six more games to maintain eligibility for an All-NBA honor. In Sunday’s win, he finished with 28 points but struggled to shoot the ball efficiently, making seven of his 18 shot attempts, including 3-0f-10 from deep.

Stephen Curry Makes History

The performance, though, was enough for Curry to surpass Boston Celtics legend John Havlicek on the NBA’s all-time scoring list. Curry, with 26,397 points, is now tied with Hall of Famer Paul Pierce for No. 19, and is less than 100 points from overtaking San Antonio Spurs legend Tim Duncan (26,496) for the No. 18 spot.

At his current scoring pace (27.3 points per game), Curry has a realistic chance to surpass Dominique Wilkins (26,668), Oscar Robertson (26,710), Russell Westbrook (26,917) and Hakeem Olajuwon (26,946) before the end of the season.

Hopefully, Curry’s injury issues don’t flare up again for a Warriors team dealing with multiple injuries. Less than a week after Jimmy Butler III’s season-ending ACL tear, the Warriors announced Monday that Jonathan Kuminga has suffered a bone bruise in his left knee. Kuminga, who suffered the injury in Thursday’s 123-115 loss to the Dallas Mavericks, has been sidelined indefinitely, with no return timeline announced.

The one piece of good news for the Warriors (26-21) is that the Timberwolves’ (27-19) ongoing five-game losing streak has allowed them to creep within just 1.5 games of the sixth-seeded Phoenix Suns (27-19). Golden State still faces a tall task to secure a top-six guaranteed playoff berth in a loaded Western Conference.
