Arsenal Women right-back Sophie Harwood has signed her first professional contract with the club. Harwood has been a regular in the matchday squad this season and the contract has been agreed for some time.
Harwood turned 18 in December and joined the club’s academy from Southampton in the summer of 2024. “Signing my first professional contract for Arsenal is a proud and special moment for me,” said Sophie. “Arsenal have paved the way for women’s football for so long, and to be able to play at such an historic club means so much to me. Every time I wear the badge, I’ll give my all and wear it with pride. Arsenal is a special club with special people and supporters – I’m thrilled to have signed.”
Technical Director Jodie Taylor added: “Sophie has impressed since joining the club and has settled into our first-team environment extremely well. We’re looking forward to supporting her continued development as she takes this next step in her career.”
Director of Women’s Football Clare Wheatley said: “We’re thrilled that Sophie has put pen to paper on professional terms with Arsenal. Sophie has shown great playmaking ability and versatility in the full-back position, and with hard work and dedication we believe she has high potential in the professional game.”
