Barcelona are working hard to secure the signings of multiple young talents at this point in time with reports even confirming that they are working on as many as four signings at the moment.
Hamza Abdelkarim and Patricio Pacifico are the closest to joining the Catalans at this point in time, but Juwensley Onstein and Ajay Tavares are also in the pipeline to make moves in the coming days.
Now, SPORT bring to light that there is a fifth young teenage talent the Blaugrana are eyeing, this time from FC Twente in the Netherlands.
An 18-year-old prospect
The player Barcelona have identified in the Dutch club is a top centre-back prospect Ruud Nijstad, who also happens to be a left-footed player.
As is common knowledge, quality left-footed centre-backs are hard to come across and are critical for Barcelona’s style.
He is just 18 years of age and already a regular in the senior team, and his current contract with Twente runs until the summer of 2027.
Just under a year and a half remains on his deal, and Barcelona have reportedly moved a delegation to convince the player to hold off any renewal offers and prioritise a move to Spain.
The idea is for Nijstad to join the subsidiary team and eventually earn a place in the first team through his performances. Barcelona’s next step, thus, is to secure an agreement with FC Twente and the player for a summer transfer.
The teenager is already an international for the Dutch U18 team and is known for his technical quality, composure, and physique. His height, moreover, will add serious resilience to Barcelona in a department where they currently lack.
