Next Leicester City manager: Ex-Liverpool, Everton, Rangers and West Ham men among favourites

Leicester City have made the decision to sack manager Martí Cifuentes following a 2-1 home defeat against Oxford United on Saturday afternoon.

The Foxes have picked up just one point from their last three games. Before that run, they had beaten Cheltenham Town in the FA Cup third round and won against West Brom in the Championship.

However, over the festive period they lost 4-1 to Queens Park Rangers before losing to Watford and Sheffield United while beating Derby County.

The former Premier League side are six points outside the top six after 29 games, having won 10 games, drawing eight and losing 11.

Leicester City Chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha said: “This has been a difficult decision and not one I have taken lightly. I would like to thank Martí for the total commitment he has shown during his time at Leicester City. He gave everything to the role and worked tirelessly to help us achieve our targets.

“However, I believe this is the right step at this time to improve performances and results, and to act in the best interests of Leicester City Football Club. Martí leaves with our thanks and our best wishes for the future.”

Now some former Liverpool and Everton players are among the early favourites for the vacant position at the ex-Premier League club - according to the bookmakers...
