Saudi government official and chairman of the General Entertainment Authority Turki Alalshikh reacted to Manchester United’s 3-2 victory over Arsenal on social media in what has sparked a fan frenzy.
The Red Devils secured a famous win at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, handing the Gunners their first home defeat of the season. Micheal Carrick’s second stint as United caretaker manager has started on a positive note, winning his first two games in charge.
Arsenal took the lead after 29 minutes through a Lisandro Martinez own goal, but Bryan Mbeumo equalized for Manchester United before the break. Patrick Dorgu turned the game on its head five minutes after the restart.
Mikel Merino thought he had rescued a point after making it 2-2 in the 84th minute, but substitute Matheus Cunha had the final say, curling home from a distance three minutes from time.
It was a memorable win for Manchester United, as the victory saw them claim their first away win against the Gunners in the Premier League since December 2017.
Alalshikh, who was previously linked with buying the Old Trafford outfit, couldn’t hide his excitement after the club got the better of Mikel Arteta’s side. Taking to his X account, he posted an image of United’s logo and captioned it with three fire emojis, a heart, and a peace emoji.
United fans were quick to react to his post, with some asking if he is still considering buying the club. Back in October 2025, Alalshikh claimed United were in an advanced stage of completing a deal to sell the club to a new investor.
“We've got some bigger games coming up” – Manchester United boss Michael Carrick sends message to his players after Arsenal win
Carrick is refusing to get all carried away and told his Manchester United players to stay focused and be humble after defeating the Premier League’s top two in quick succession. The former midfielder started his reign with a 2-0 win over Manchester City before stunning Arteta’s side at the Emirates.
Speaking after the win against Arsenal, Carrick told reporters:
“I think it's more about the feeling that this gives us, really, as a group. And the players and as a club, and certainly the supporters. That’s my concern - how that can bring us together and lift us, in a real positive manner. I'm not getting all carried away, we've got some bigger games coming up, because the next game is always the bigger game. So we're not getting carried away. We've got really important things coming up and we need to keep improving. Two massive games, there's a lot of emotion, a lot of energy and a lot of confidence that you can take but we’ve got to be humble and understand how we’ve got these results. That's really important moving forward.”
Manchester United sit fourth in the Premier League table and will host Fulham in their next outing.
