Sheffield Wednesday and Chelsea have confirmed the transfer of young Yisa Alao to Stamford Bridge.
It was reported by The Star earlier this month that the 17-year-old full back had been the subject of an offer from Chelsea after Liverpool and Manchester United had also done the same, and it was later revealed that the Blues led the race. Now it’s been announced that the deal has been done.
Wednesday said today, “Sheffield Wednesday can confirm that Yisa Alao has completed a permanent transfer to Premier League Chelsea for an undisclosed fee.
Yisa Alao has joined Chelsea
“Yisa has developed through the Owls’ academy system and was offered a professional contract. Chelsea have presented him with an excellent opportunity, and after careful consideration Yisa has chosen to take the next step in his career.
“Having joined Wednesday at Under-7s level, the full-back graduated to make his senior debut in our Carabao Cup first round tie at Bolton in August. He posted his first Championship start against Portsmouth at Hillsborough earlier this month and in total, the 17-year-old has made five first-team appearances.”
Meanwhile, his new club said, “Chelsea is pleased to announce the signing of Yisa Alao, with the left-back agreeing a contract with the Blues until 2028.
“The 17-year-old came through Sheffield Wednesday’s academy and made his senior debut for the Owls in August. Alao has since played four more games, starting Wednesday’s recent FA Cup tie against Brentford and Championship match against Portsmouth. Welcome to Chelsea, Yisa!”
