Gary Neville issues brutal Arsenal warning ahead of Leeds United clash at Elland Road

Leeds United have made the rest of the Premier League sit up and take notice over recent weeks, amid an incredible run of form from the Whites.

Daniel Farke has worked wonders to transform the fortunes of his Leeds side, who have suffered just one defeat in their last ten outings in all competitions.

In this run, Leeds drew 1-1 with their bitter rivals Manchester United at Elland Road, a game in which Farke’s men were arguably unfortunate not to walk away with three points.

That game and Leeds’ fine form of late have clearly influenced former Manchester United player Gary Neville, who has issued Arsenal a brutal warning ahead of their trip to Elland Road on January 31.

‘They can’t afford to go to Leeds and get beaten up’ – Gary Neville gives Arsenal a stern warning ahead of Leeds clash

Whilst Leeds’ next opponents are Everton, with United set to make the trip to the Hill Dickinson Stadium for the first time on Monday night, Arsenal are the next side Farke’s men face at Elland Road.

In the reverse fixture, Arsenal toyed with Leeds, running out 5-0 winners at the Emirates in a game where the Whites lacked any sort of attacking threat.

However, facing Leeds now is a completley different proposition entirely for Arsenal, who are chasing their first Premier League title under Mikel Arteta, with Neville offering Arsenal some advice before their trip to West Yorkshire on the latest episode of The Gary Neville Podcast.

“What they can’t afford to do is go to Leeds and get beaten up – lose there and all of a sudden at one point.

“Then all of a sudden, there will be questions asked, there will be people saying ‘oh.'”

For one of the most elite sides in Europe at present to be given a warning like this ahead of a trip to Elland Road will surely fill Farke with confidence that this Leeds side are in fact, going in the right direction.

Data suggests Leeds are capable of matching Arsenal physically

For Leeds to walk away with anything from that game against Arsenal, they must make it a physical game, similar to how they did against Chelsea.

Whilst the stats from DataMB suggest that Arsenal are superior to Leeds in every category, physicality is the one element of Leeds’ game that is comparable to Arsenal.

It is worth noting that when Leeds travelled down to the Emirates, Joel Piroe led the line, with the forward looking completley isolated and out of his depth physically.

However, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin now leading the line, Arsenal will have far more to worry about from a defensive standpoint compared to what they faced back in August, with the extra physicality the Englishman will offer up top.
