There has been a huge new claim regarding Liverpool sacking head coach Arne Slot

A big new update has now emerged regarding the future of Liverpool head coach Arne Slot, with the Dutchman under huge pressure to keep his job.

The Reds were so poor on Saturday evening, losing 3-2 at Bournemouth in the Premier League, ending their unconvincing 13-game unbeaten run.

Reflecting on the game in his post-match press conference, Slot couldn’t hide his frustration, following another hugely disappointing season in a dreadful season to date:

“Frustrating, of course, because conceding a goal is always frustrating but especially if there’s no time left to come back into the game. I think it’s safe to say they could have scored the 3-2 also a little bit earlier and what I mean with that is I think after we scored the 2-2, we were still trying but I think it’s safe to say a few players of ours ran out of energy.

“I cannot even criticise them for that because two days ago we had to play an away game in Europe. We are the only team that played [in the] Champions League that has two days between in this time.”

According to a well-connected source on X [via Caught Offside], “top-level officials” at Liverpool were involved in a “high-level meeting” on Sunday regarding Slot’s future, and it “was not” in his favour of him, suggesting a change could be imminent.

Is it time for Liverpool to part ways with Slot?

This season hasn’t been good enough, which is why a chunk of the Liverpool fanbase has run out of patience with Slot, and it does feel like a case of when he goes, rather than if.

Granted, it was only last season that he won the Premier League title with the Reds, which was an incredible achievement, but the dropoff this time around has been alarming, both in terms of results and performances.

The aforementioned unbeaten run did little to please the supporters too much, given the nature of the displays, and Saturday’s result away to Bournemouth has arguably been coming.

Xabi Alonso is the dream replacement for many, given his ties with Liverpool, and if he wants the job, FSG should act fast, rather than delaying the inevitable.
