Sources close to Xabi Alonso share his stance on joining Liverpool

Reports from Spain claimed the 44-year-old is open to the idea of a return to the Premier League. Now, the English media is relaying the same, this time from sources close to the former midfielder.
Alan Irwin tells Sky Sports: “Xabi Alonso’s name is constantly mentioned in these parts and sources close to him indicate he would be more than happy with a return to the club where he was adored by fans during his playing career here.”

Until now, they appear to be behind the manager, but who knows what will happen if Liverpool can’t get back to winning ways. They may look at the interested Alonso as a more promising option.
