David Moyes shut down the prospect of Beto moving to Fenerbahce - and now it appears that the Turkish side have moved on. The forward has been linked with a move to Domenico Tedesco’s side this month and it was claimed last week that his representatives were in Turkey to discuss a deal.
But when asked about those claims in his press conference to preview his side’s game against Leeds United, Moyes shut down the suggestion of his forward leaving the club. The Everton manager said: “I know nothing about it at the moment, no. We wouldn’t [be prepared to let him go] because we’ve not got enough [strikers].”
And now it appears that Fenerbahce have moved on, as Sabah are reporting the Super Lig side are locked in negotiations with Manchester City over a deal for Omar Marmoush and are willing to offer €30m (£26m) for the 26-year-old.
The Egyptian international is unhappy with his lack of game time at City, a situation unlikely to be helped by the fact that Antoine Semenyo recently moved to the Etihad from Bournemouth in a deal worth £64m.
Should Fenerbahce beat off competition from Bayern Munich and local rivals Galatasaray for Marmoush’s signature, then any deal for Beto before next Monday’s deadline would appear to be dead and buried.
City only signed Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt for €70m euros (£59m) last year and he has another three years left on his contract.
And even though he netted in the 2-0 win over Wolves on Saturday, he has only made 17 appearances in all competitions so far this season.

Marmoush is an international team-mate of Mohamed Salah and the Liverpool star delivered a glowing verdict when asked about the forward last year.
"Omar Marmoush, incredibly talented and currently a key player for his club and the national team," he told Egyptian outlet WinWin.
"But I hope he can stay away from comparisons because they will keep putting him under constant pressure. I just want him to avoid the idea of comparisons.
"People need to stop comparing him to me, saying he’s 'the new Salah' and that he’ll do what I did or even better, this doesn’t help him; it only puts him under constant pressure.
"You can’t compare him to a player who has achieved so much over the years while he’s just starting out. Let him live his own experience and enjoy it. He’s doing something different, in his own unique way."
