Lewis Koumas could climb the Championship table after being recalled from his loan spell at Birmingham City by Liverpool.

Confirmation that Koumas has returned to Liverpool arrived on Monday afternoon following a spell at St Andrew's which saw him play 25 games for Blues.

The 20-year-old winger was never a fixture in Blues' line-up under Chris Davies and the signing of Ibrahim Osman has paved the way for his return to Liverpool.

Koumas is expected to head out on loan again before the end of the month and, according to our sister title Hull Live, Hull City are leading the race for his signature.

The fourth-placed Tigers are 11 points better off than Blues, with a game-in-hand, and could offer Koumas his third Championship loan.

Hull have been working under transfer constraints since the summer but they have overperformed under Sergej Jakirovic and are very much in contention for promotion.

Talks between Hull and Liverpool are said to be advanced but a departure could well be needed before the Tigers can register Koumas for the second half of the season.

Hull targeted Koumas in the summer before the Wales international joined Blues.
