A Premier League weekend of unwanted results means Arne Slot's Liverpool have now dropped out of the top four and into sixth.

After seeing a 13-game unbeaten sequence ended by Bournemouth with the last kick of the game on Saturday evening, Chelsea and Manchester United compounded the misery with victories of their own on Sunday.

It means the Reds welcome Newcastle United to Anfield next Saturday night for a game that has taken on even more importance as the race for the Champions League places hots up.

Before that and Wednesday night's Champions League visit from Azerbaijan side Qarabag, however, the ECHO brings you all the latest off-diary news and tidbits as the Notebook makes a return.

No interest in Adam Wharton

Claims of an agreement with Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton have been dismissed by Liverpool, who are not currently pursuing a move for the England international.

A report on social media that suggested Wharton had agreed a five-year contract with the Reds has been shot down, with it understood that the former Blackburn Rovers man is not currently an active target for the Premier League champions.

Wharton has become a key member of a Palace squad that won the FA Cup last season but Liverpool feel they are well stocked in the midfield area at present and not working on a deal to sign the 21-year-old.

Lewis Koumas set for Hull City move

Lewis Koumas has had his loan spell with Birmingham City cut short and is closing in on a short-term move to Hull City.

The Wales international is keen to get more game-time between now and the end of the campaign, with the Dragons set for a one-legged World Cup play-off with Bosnia and Herzegovina in March.

Should Wales win that, they will meet either Italy or Northern Ireland for a place at this summer's World Cup across the United States, Canada and Mexico and Koumas is determined to be involved.

Liverpool feel Hull's reputation of nurturing young attacking talents like Jaden Philogene, Joe Gelhardt and Liam Delap means Koumas will be taken good care of at the MKM Stadium.

Fabio Carvalho's successful period in the second half of the 2023/24 term has also been taken into consideration to decide Koumas's next destination. His Birmingham exit was confirmed on Monday afternoon by the Championship side.

With Birmingham active in the market this month, it's understood that both Liverpool and Koumas felt there were better opportunities for the 20-year-old to showcase his ability in the Championship for the remainder of the term.

Talks are now ongoing and at an advanced stage ahead of a likely move to Hull before the end of the January transfer window.

Kyle Kelly attracting interest

Liverpool Under-21 midfielder Kyle Kelly is attracting interest from clubs in England and Europe as he enters the final few months of his contract at the Kirkby Academy.

Kelly, who has impressed in recent weeks for the young Reds, is out of contract at the end of the campaign with no new deal looking likely at this stage.

The St Kitts and Nevis international is wanted by a handful of clubs as the versatile midfielder awaits confirmation of Liverpool's plans over his current terms.

Calvin Ramsay to stay put

Calvin Ramsay is now almost certain to remain for the rest of the season at Liverpool.

The right-back has only made one appearance for the Reds this term, which came in the Carabao Cup defeat to Crystal Palace earlier this season, but with Conor Bradley out for the season and Joe Gomez going off injured in Saturday's 3-2 loss to Bournemouth, the options are stretched at right-back.

Interest from the Championship had been anticipated but Liverpool's dwindling defensive numbers - which led to the call to keep Andy Robertson after Tottenham Hotspur talks - means Ramsay will be required to now stay put.

Liverpool are expected to be open to loan offers in the summer, though.

New agent for Keyrol Figueroa

Academy striker Keyrol Figueroa has new representation after the Liverpool forward signed with P&P Sports Management.

Figueroa, who scored in Sunday's 2-1 win over Leeds United at the Academy, is now represented by Federico Pastorello, who also looks after the affairs of former Reds midfielder Arthur Melo.

"We're thrilled to welcome another standout prospect to our roster [in] Keyrol Figueroa," they announced on social media on Sunday.

"Born in 2006, Keyrol is a highly-promising centre-forward currently developing in the youth ranks at Liverpool and representing the USA national team at youth international level.

"Welcome to the team, Keyrol! Exciting times ahead."
