Former Blazer Chris Dudley announces run for Oregon governor

SALEM, Ore. (KPTV) - Former Portland Trail Blazer Chris Dudley has announced that he will be running for Oregon governor.

Dudley, a Republican, is a former Blazers center and a 16-year NBA veteran. According to his foundation website, he played for the Blazers from 1993 to 1997, and then again from 2001 to 2003. During his career, he also played for the Cleveland Cavaliers, New Jersey Nets, New York Knicks and Phoenix Suns.

Dudley previously ran for Oregon governor as the Republican candidate in 2010, ultimately losing to John Kitzhaber, a Democrat.

Other Republican competitors running for governor in 2026 include Sen. Christine Drazan, Rep. Ed Diehl, and David Medina, who faced felony charges for allegedly entering the U.S. Capitol on January, 6, 2021.

Current Oregon Governor Tina Kotek announced last month that she would be running for reelection.

Republican and Democratic primary elections take place in May. Oregonians will then cast their ballots for governor this November.
