Man United target could be available for £40 million

Manchester United produced another impressive display to beat Premier League leaders Arsenal 3-2 at The Emirates on Sunday afternoon.

The hosts had taken the lead in north London courtesy of Lisandro Martinez’s own goal, before Bryan Mbeumo levelled things up.

Patrick Dorgu then put the Red Devils in front with a spectacular striker, but Arsenal drew level through substitute Mikel Merino.

Arsenal looked to be heading for a second successive draw in the Premier League, until Matheus Cunha unleashed a spectacular effort beyond David Raya to put United in front once again.

Michael Carrick’s side held on to secure a mightily impressive victory, and in doing so dent the Gunners’ title hopes.

In the wake of the game, it has emerged that Man United could also be handed a boost in their pursuit of a Premier League goalkeeper.

As per Football Insider, Aston Villa ‘keeper Emiliano Martinez could be available in the final days of the current transfer window.

The report claims that the Villans have set an asking price of around £40 million for the Argentine, and the Premier League side could even be willing to accept offers for the player in the final weeks of the window.

Martinez, 33, joined Villa from Arsenal back in 2020 and has since established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League.

In total he has played 234 times for Villa, keeping 77 clean sheets and conceding 276 goals across all competitions.

It is claimed that the Argentina international – who won the World Cup in 2022 – has infuriated his manager, Unai Emery, with his inconsistent displays so far this term.

Martinez was expected to depart Villa Park last summer, but a move never materialised and he instead stayed put in Birmingham.
