The game between the Philadelphia 76ers and Charlotte Hornets was originally scheduled to take place at 7:00 p.m. ET on Monday evening.
However, the game was moved up to 3:00 p.m. due to inclement weather, so now we’ll get treated to some matinee basketball. Unfortunately, one of the biggest stars in the league won’t be available for the game.
Joel Embiid ruled out vs. Hornets due to injury management
Joel Embiid has been officially ruled out of the game due to injury management.
The game in Charlotte is the first night of a back-to-back for Philadelphia, as they'll also host the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday night. So, that would explain Embiid's absence, as the big man hasn't been playing in both legs of back-to-backs this season. He'll likely be good to go against Milwaukee on Tuesday night.
On the season, Embiid has played in 25 games and posted averages of 25.1 points, 7.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.1 blocks in 30.6 minutes per performance.
In addition to Embiid, Sixers star forward Paul George has also been ruled out of the game in Charlotte due to left knee injury management.
It will be the third game of the season between Philadelphia and Charlotte. The Sixers won both of the previous two meetings. The teams will also meet again in late March.
