In terms of outgoings, Anselmino’s compatriot Facundo Buonanotte has left Stamford Bridge after spending just a few months there.

Borussia Dortmund ‘furious’ with Chelsea after Aaron Anselmino recall

Unsurprisingly, with it being so late in the transfer window, Dortmund are far from happy with Chelsea’s decision to recall Anselmino.

In fact, according to Bild, Chelsea’s actions have shocked Dortmund and have left bosses at the German club “furious”.

The central defender was impressing during his loan spell at Signal Iduna Park, with his former manager Niko Kovac being a fan of his talent.

Last November, Kovac praised Anselmino for doing the basics, claiming that it is something that modern-day centre-backs do not do enough of.

In total, the 20-year-old made 10 appearances for Kovac’s side and scored one goal. Despite injuries, it was proving to be a productive loan spell, but Chelsea sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley have decided to cut it short, much to the displeasure of their German counterparts.

Why Chelsea have recalled Aaron Anselmino

It would have been better for Anselmino’s development if he remained at Dortmund, where the Argentina youth international was getting game time.

However, Chelsea are struggling to agree a deal for Jeremy Jacquet, the centre-back they want to bring in this month.

That has left the club having to consider other options, with Anselmino seemingly being the solution.

It is thought that Chelsea could still try to sign Jacquet for the summer, which could have an impact on the futures of Anselmino and Mamadou Sarr. All three players are the same age, so the arrival of Jacquet could end up blocking their paths into the first team.
