Chelsea youngster monitored–CFG rethink plans after Tottenham transfer problem

Chelsea are facing a new round of interest from Brazil for Deivid Washington, and a struggling to Tottenham Hotspur transfer is likely the reason.

Several clubs are monitoring the Chelsea striker’s situation ahead of the 2026 season.

According to Brazilian journalist Jonas Stelmann, the 20-year-old forward has been discussed by local sides Flamengo and Vasco da Gama in recent weeks. Now, CFG-owned club Bahia have also entered the race, with the Brazilian side assessing a possible loan deal.

Bahia turn to Chelsea after Veliz deal collapses

Bahia’s specific interest in Deivid Washington appears to be directly linked to a failed move for Alejo Véliz, currently on loan at Rosario Central from Tottenham.

The Brazilian club had reached an agreement with Tottenham over a loan. However, bureaucratic issues ultimately prevented the deal from being completed. Now the player will remain in Argentina.

As a result, Bahia were pushed back into the market in search of alternatives. Given the club’s links to City Football Group and its strong focus on the English game, Deivid Washington has emerged as a logical solution after the Veliz setback.

Adding to that, it could allow CFG to present a broader development plan to the player, which BlueCo apparently failed to do so. That includes a potential pathway back into European football if a permanent move is discussed later.

Youngster needs more time on the pitch

The report states that Chelsea have no plans to use Deivid Washington in the first team this season. He has been featuring for the club’s under-21 side. As a result, the Blues are open to negotiating another temporary exit. That stance is expected to ease talks with interested clubs.

Chelsea signed Deivid Washington from Santos in 2023 for around £13.7m (€16m). However, his market value has dropped since then. Last season, he returned to Santos on loan but struggled for impact, scoring just once in 20 appearances.

Beyond Brazil, FC Porto have also been linked with the striker, according to Mercado Azul. There is a possibility Chelsea could prioritise a European loan, as the club weigh up the best next step.
