Giannis Antetokounmpo could still be traded before the trade deadline, set for February 5th. The Greek superstar is considering firing his longtime agent to pick a new one who could push more for a trade out of Milwaukee.
The future of Giannis Antetokounmpo remains the hottest topic in the NBA, and a new chapter is about to be added to this story.
According to former ESPN reporter Henry Abbott, the star of the Milwaukee Bucks is seriously considering the possibility of firing his longtime agent, Alex Saratsis of Octagon, who has been his agent since the beginning of his career.
The disagreement between the two is reportedly based on the fact that Saratsis, at least so far, has been unable to find a trade away from the Bucks for Antetokounmpo.
Rich Paul, agent for LeBron James and many other NBA stars, is said to be very interested in representing Giannis and has recently been in contact with his brother Thanasis.
Paul believes he could orchestrate a trade for Giannis much quicker than Saratsis, thanks to his influence on many teams around the league.
Despite Antetokounmpo's recent injury, which is supposed to sideline him for more than a month, several people around the league believe that it is still possible that the Bucks will trade the Greek superstar before the February 5th deadline.
Last year, the rules for changing agents were modified in the NBA. Before, if a player sent a termination letter to his agent, he had to wait for 15 days before a new one could take over his case.
Now, only 7 days have to pass before a new agent can take over a client after the termination letter to the previous agent has been sent.
