No deal happening? Latest Jonathan Kuminga trade update to Lakers revealed

Per NBA insider Brett Siegel, there are no ongoing and active Kuminga trade talks between both sides.

The Los Angeles Lakers have surprisingly emerged as an interested team around Jonathan Kuminga. Yet right now, it appears that nothing will materialize between them and the Golden State Warriors about a potential deal.

Golden State Warriors / Schedule

According to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints, there are no active and ongoing talks in both the Lakers and the Warriors regarding a Kuminga trade.

Golden State is reportedly having no interest in the Lakers' trade assets and there is no offer on the table.

Despite the season-ending ACL injury of Jimmy Butler and his emergency reinsertion to the Dubs roster, Kuminga remains convinced to leave the Bay Area after demanding a trade. But infamously, general manager Mike Dunleavy argued that there's no significant market interest in Kuminga.

Kuminga spent most of the 2025-26 season being DNP'd by head coach Steve Kerr and is seeking new beginnings. He is expected to miss an extended period after suffering from a bone bruise in his left knee last week.

With the Warriors uninterested and might keep Kuminga to continue their desperate contention hopes, the Lakers can only look for other key wingmen that will be availabale in the trade market before the Feb. 5 deadline.
