Karl-Anthony Towns trade: Teams believe Knicks could deal star center

There is a sense across the league that the Knicks could pull a trade around Towns, per Stein.

Karl-Anthony Towns suddenly appeared in the league's trade rumor mill, in which it was reported that there were three teams that are at least linked to the big man.

New York Knicks / Schedule

While it was debunked already, there is still a significant perception across the league that the New York Knicks might eventually deal Towns at some point in the future.

"A belief persists among some rival teams that Towns is in play to some degree. Or that the Knicks, at the very least, have tried to get a sense of what his market would be," NBA insider Marc Stein wrote in his latest report.

"Now would the Knicks, when it actually comes down to it, be willing to surrender Towns in any trade that doesn't involving acquiring Milwaukee's Giannis Antetokounmpo? Would James Dolan and Leon Rose (Towns' former agent) really sanction any drastic in-season shakeup and possibly make their team smaller by parting with Towns mid-stream?"

Towns drew plenty of chatter out of his current struggles this season for the Knicks. The big man is averaging decreased offensive numbers of 20.5 points in 46.9 percent shooting.

He mainly encountered troubles in adjusting to Mike Brown's system, and there are issues regarding his foul and turnover counts on a nightly basis.

Should the Knicks fulfill their lofty championship expectations this season with Towns playing a pivotal role, chances are high that the center will remain as a part of their team's core.
