Rockets make stance clear on Tari Eason as trade deadline approaches

The Rockets are reportedly not entertaining trade ideas around Eason ahead of the Feb. 5 deadline.

In his latest NBA reporting update, veteran insider Marc Stein revealed that the Houston Rockets are turning down trade inquiries and calls around Tari Eason.

Eason is set to become a restricted free agent in this year's offseason, and the Rockets are convinced to keep him.

"Word was emphatically conveyed Monday that any Eason speculation is off target and that the Rockets' fourth-year forward is not available to interested teams in advance of this deadline," Stein noted.

Both Eason and the Rockets failed to reach a rookie scale extension. Nonetheless, the Rockets have the rights to match any offer that the forward will obtain in the market on July.

Eason established himself as a solid do-it-all piece. Unfortunately, he fought injuries this season and in the last two years.

The 24-year-old is currently averaging 12.0 points, 6.2 boards, 1.5 assists and 1.3 steals in 24 games.

Given his versatile traits, many teams will continue to monitor Eason's service until he finally lands a new contract either with the Rockets or a new club.
