New Anthony Davis update: Mavs star to stay in Dallas amid trade rumors?

In the wake of the current trade interest of Dallas, it is believed that Davis would prefer staying as a Maverick beyond this season's trade deadline.

According to longtime NBA correspondent Marc Stein, the Dallas Mavericks will continue to field calls and inquiries around Anthony Davis ahead of the Feb. 5 trade deadline.

But considering his current brutal circumstances, Stein believes that Davis is leaning towards remaining in Dallas.

“My best read on Davis, meanwhile, remains that he would prefer to stay put for the rest of this season after absorbing the shock of last February’s sudden in-season relocation from the Lakers to the Mavericks and a string of injuries since he became a Mav,” Stein wrote.

“It likewise appears that there is little active momentum toward a Davis deal before the Feb. 5 deadline in the wake of the ligament damage in his left hand sustained on Jan. 8 that is expected to sideline Davis into March. He turns 33 on March 11.”

Davis is slated to return at some point in March after he considered the nonsurgical recovery in his damaged left hand.

It was already reported that amid agent Rich Paul's trade demands, Davis is actually comfortable to stay in Dallas.

The trade reports around Davis mainly circulates around the star big man's contract situation. Davis will be extension eligible by August wherein he can sign as much as a four-year, $275 million deal, but it is believed that the Mavericks are hesitant to commit considering his injury history.

Right now, there hasn't been anything new on Davis trade front, as the Atlanta Hawks and the Toronto Raptors' interest have significantly declined upon his hand injury.
