The Liverpool legend has reportedly already said yes to making the return, and he has told the club he would be happy to join on an interim basis if they do decide to sack Slot in the middle of the 2025/2026 season.
It's claimed that Liverpool have also held talks for another former midfielder to make the move to Anfield, with discussions taking place with Xabi Alonso, who was recently sacked as Real Madrid manager. FSG are believed to be increasingly open to making a change in the dugout in the summer, with Alonso seen as the prime candidate.
If Liverpool fail to qualify for Europe, you'd imagine Slot will be on incredibly thin ice. To follow a Premier League title win with what we've seen so far has been a major disappointment for them, and things need to start heading back in the right direction.
