'I'm a fan': Jamie Carragher thinks he's spotted a new'leader'emerge in the Chelsea ranks

Chelsea really stepped things up against Crystal Palace at the weekend after several uncertain performances.

Liam Rosenior secured his second Premier League win in a row at the weekend, as goals from Joao Pedro, Enzo Fernandez and Estevao Willian sealed all three points.

We even heard the Chelsea fans chanting Rosenior’s name in the away end, signalling the start of something potentially special after Enzo Maresca’s departure.

One thing that is for certain is that Rosenior is trying to promote the right brand of football in response to calls for more excitement from supporters; it just takes time to implement these things.

One player who has helped ensure a successful start for Rosenior at Chelsea is Trevoh Chalobah, who continues to go from strength to strength.

Jamie Carragher picks out Trevoh Chalobah as an outsider for England’s World Cup squad

Liam Rosenior has already expressed his delight with Chalobah’s performances since he became Chelsea boss, and it seems as if Jamie Carragher is also an admirer.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Carragher tipped Chalobah for a place at the World Cup after emerging as a leader at Stamford Bridge.

“I’m a fan of Chalobah. I think he’s been fantastic since he’s come back from his loan spell at Crystal Palace.

“And when I think of those Chelsea centre-backs, I think he’s the one who has emerged out of those five or six, who I thought were at the same level. He’s the one who has almost emerged as the leader for me out of that centre-back group.

“Out of those challengers there, I’d go with Chalobah (to make the World Cup squad).”

Trevoh Chalobah has been incredible at Chelsea

It’s about time people woke up to the quality of Trevoh Chalobah at Chelsea. He’s gone through so many games without getting the credit he really deserves.

To think that only a week ago, it was being reported that Chalobah would either sign a new deal or be sold in the summer by Behdad Eghbali is crazy.

He’s one of the first names on the teamsheet right now for Chelsea.

And one thing that he has added to his game this season is goals, as the joint-second highest goalscoring centre-back in the Premier League this season.

His performance against Crystal Palace was nothing short of brilliant. He completely neutralised one of the most dangerous strikers in the Premier League, Jean-Philippe Mateta.
