arsenal fcArsenal are set for a transfer window and a boost to their coffers due to a sell-on clause for one of their former players.
Portuguese full-back Nuno Tavares only left the Gunners on a permanent basis last June, moving to Lazio where he had previously been on loan, for £6 million.
That included a sell-on clause, though, of between thirty and forty percent, and which is about to realised with his impending move to Turkey and Beşiktaş.
Taveres was once of Mikel Arteta’s early signings at Arsenal, joining from Benfica for £8m in July 2021. But his only full season at the Emirates proved challenging, with the defensive side of his game an issue. He was famously subbed off after just 34 minutes during an FA Cup defeat to Nottingham Forest.
He was subsequently loaned out to Marseille and Forest, before switching to Italy.
But having fallen down the pecking order this season under Mauricio Sarri, he is about to move again, in a deal that could net the Gunners a tidy sum.
