West Ham United want to open their door for Chelsea’s Axel Disasi in the winter market.
L’Equipe have a report on West Ham’s interest and Chelsea’s stance on the letting the 27-year-old leave in this window.
Last month, we covered claims from France that Lyon have initiated contact to sign the centre-back in January. It’s unclear whether they have made advances in recent days or weeks. West Ham have now entered the race for the Chelsea player.
The Frenchman hasn’t made an appearance for Chelsea this season. His situation didn’t change after the Blues replaced Enzo Maresca with Liam Rosenior earlier this month.
Disasi has instead had minutes with Chelsea U21s, playing three matches so far for them this season.
According to the newspaper, he should leave Stamford Bridge before the winter market closes on Monday. The defender has an opportunity to join Nuno Espírito Santo’s side.
L’Equipe state he is likely to go out on loan and ‘West Ham in particular’ have positioned themselves to sign him.
The report further adds the Hammers have started negotiations with their Premier League colleagues for the temporary move. There are also other clubs in the picture to sign him.
Chelsea’s ‘international loan limit of seven players’ is expected to influence Disasi’s next destination. This won’t be applicable to West Ham and in fact favours them.
Rosenior’s side recalled Aaron Anselmino from his loan spell at Borussia Dortmund on Monday. It clearly didn’t please the Bundesliga side.
This now leaves only four Chelsea players out on international loan. Nicolas Jackson is on loan at Bayern Munich while Mamadou Sarr, Mike Penders and Kendry Páez are at RC Strasbourg.
Journalist Loïc Tanzi covered this report, and he also reports of Stade Rennais’ interest in the Chelsea player. But! Football Club have relayed his comments.
“Jacquet’s move to Chelsea has cooled. During these discussions, Rennes had mentioned Axel Disasi, a sign that signing a defender is not out of the question. It remains to be seen if English competition for Jacquet will materialise, but Rennes still wants a loan until the end of the season,” he said.
