'I know': Arsenal handed potential boost for £86m Julian Alvarez transfer

Julian Alvarez is reportedly unhappy at Atletico Madrid

The Argentina international is reportedly on the radar of the Gunners ahead of the summer transfer window as Mikel Arteta seeks to bolster his forward options further.

Arsenal, who have been criticised by Jamie Carragher for lacking quality in attack, have seen the goals from their existing options up front dry up in recent weeks which in turn has affected their Premier League title bid.

Alvarez, meanwhile, has scored 11 goals in 29 appearances across all competitions for Atletico, though he has failed to find the back of the net in each of his last ten LaLiga outings.

According to widespread reports, Atletico could be willing to sell the 25 year-old at the end of the season for a fee in the region of £86m.

In a possible boost for Arsenal, Lineker has shared an update to give supporters some encouragement over a potential deal.

Speaking on the Rest is Football podcast, Lineker said: "It's probably complete b******* as most of these things are on social media but I saw they were linked with Julian Alvarez who I know is not entirely happy with life at Atletico.
