Jonathan Kuminga #1 of the Golden State Warriors sits on the the bench during their game against the New York Knicks during the second quarter at Chase Center on January 15, 2026 in San Francisco, California.

The Los Angeles Lakers, who’ve emerged as the latest suitor in a Jonathan Kuminga trade, have reportedly made their offer to the Golden State Warriors.

Per insider Evan Sidery, the Lakers are willing to offer the expiring contracts of Gabe Vincent and Maxi Kleber, besides a 2032 second-round pick. Stunningly, the package doesn’t include second-year wing Dalton Knecht or even Rui Hachimura, who’d presumably be viewed as more favorable trade assets by the Warriors.

Not surprisingly, the Warriors have no interest in the Lakers’ offer.

“The Lakers and Warriors have conducted brief trade discussions involving Jonathan Kuminga,” Sidery reported on Monday.

“Los Angeles appears willing to offer the expiring contracts of Gabe Vincent and Maxi Kleber alongside a 2032 2nd-round pick.

“Golden State is not showing any legit interest in LA’s assets.”

Lakers in Pursuit of Kuminga

ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel also reported Monday that the Warriors feel the Lakers have “nothing of value” that they can offer in a potential Kuminga trade. However, the insider noted that there are no active discussions between the Pacific Division rivals.

“Multiple league sources tell @ClutchPoints that there are no active, ongoing discussions between the Warriors and Lakers regarding Jonathan Kuminga,” Siegel reported via X amid rumors of the Lakers’ interest in Kuminga.

“The Lakers do hold interest in Kuminga, but the Warriors have made it clear LA has nothing of value to them. There is no offer.”

Siegel further refuted Sidery’s report that the Lakers “made an offer” for Kuminga, upon checking with his sources from both teams.

“The Warriors hold zero interest in LA’s players, and there hasn’t been an offer. Dubs have been actively searching the market for an immediate wing upgrade utilizing Kuminga’s salary spot. Even if the Lakers offered a first, it wouldn’t matter.”

Warriors Trade Rumors Heat Up

Further to Siegel’s reporting, the Warriors are apparently in the hunt for a replacement for Jimmy Butler III after the veteran wing suffered an ACL tear last week. To make matters worse, Kuminga, who was supposed to take Butler’s place in the rotation, also went down with a bone bruise after hyperextending his knee last Thursday.

While the Warriors always had plans to move Kuminga by the Feb. 5 NBA trade deadline, there was a glimmer of hope that the Congolese forward could find a role in Steve Kerr’s rotation due to Butler’s injury and perhaps finish the season on the roster.

The Warriors, though, have continued to indicate that they’d rather hold onto Kuminga than take back contracts that derail their ambitious plans for next two offseasons.

“The Warriors are going to continue aggressively trying to trade Jonathan Kuminga, but Golden State would rather make no trade than a bad trade,” ESPN’s Tim MacMahon told “SportsCenter” earlier this week. “In other words, they’re not trying to take back salary they don’t want moving forward.”

The Warriors (26-22) face a tall order to secure a top-six guaranteed playoff berth, as they’re 2.0 games behind the seventh-seeded Phoenix Suns (27-19) and 2.5 games behind the sixth-seeded Minnesota Timberwolves (28-19). They suffered a blowout loss to the Timberwolves on Monday, albeit with Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, De’Anthony Melton and Al Horford sitting out on the second night of a back-to-back.
