Terry Singles Out Chelsea Star Who Has Been“So Good Over The Last Two Or Three Years”

**Chelsea legend John Terry has praised Trevoh Chalobah following another excellent performance against Crystal Palace at the weekend.**

The former club captain was keen to highlight Chalobah’s role in the Blues’ 3-1 win at Selhurst Park, but he also praised the player’s overall performance levels in recent seasons:

“I spoke yesterday on the importance and the great work from Trevoh for our second goal. Real simple, basic defending, but I think he’s been so good over the last two or three years.”

“Look at his distances the whole way. His distances are absolutely perfect, and what I love about this clip, more importantly, he keeps Mateta on the outside of him always. As a defender, you never wanna be too far on the outside and let the defender roll inside. Trev’s got him.”

“Manages to just nick the ball from him, but what I love about this after – touch out your feet, finds that great ball forward, and then we get the magic. What a ball this is from Estevao, forward runners with Enzo, and a great bit of magic from Joao Pedro. That all starts from Trevoh, and no one really notices that.”

When a legendary defender like Terry is praising a player’s game, it is time to sit up and take notice. Despite all the money the club have spent on centre-backs in recent years. Chalobah is still starting week in, week out.

He has had to show character at times too after effectively being frozen out under Enzo Maresca before being loaned out to Crystal Palace.

Yet, his form away from Stamford Bridge led to him being called in January last year, and he hasn’t looked back from there.

Chelsea are still looking for another centre-half

-------------------------------------------------

The Blues have been in negotiations with Rennes about signing [**Jeremy Jacquet**](https://chelseanews.com/blog/chelsea-transfer-news-jeremy-jacquet-4/), but it looks as if that deal may only happen in the summer.

Head coach Liam Rosenior is said to be keen on bringing in reinforcements for the centre of defence this month, though, and that is why Aaron Anselmino has been recalled from his loan spell at Borussia Dortmund.

Whatever happens, you would think that Chalobah’s position in the starting lineup is now pretty much set in stone.
