Nuno Espirito Santo worked with the Fulham forward during his tenure at Wolves and is set for a reunion.
West Ham are on the verge of making Fulham winger Adama Traore their third signing of the January transfer window with the winger spotted at the club’s training ground on Tuesday.
The former Barcelona star is out of favour at Craven Cottage and has been linked with a move to the London Stadium in recent weeks. West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo worked with the Spaniard during his time at Wolves.
A product of the renowned Barcelona academy, Traore spent nine years learning the trade in Catalonia and made 21 appearances for the senior team before moving to Aston Villa in 2015.
Adama Traore spotted at West Ham training ground
The 30-year-old now has 262 appearances in the Premier League thanks to his time with the Villains, Wolves and Fulham. Traore has been at Craven Cottage since 2023 but, as often in his career, has had to settle for a role as an impact player.
Traore is known for his explosive power and pace, being labelled as ‘unstoppable’ by Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola. The player was left out of the Fulham matchday squad to take on Brighton over the weekend for only the second time this season as transfer rumours swirl.
talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook shares claims from the trusted ExWHUEmployee that Traore has now been spotted at the West Ham training ground with a transfer imminent. The winger will be tasked with helping Nuno haul the Hammers out of the Premier League relegation zone in a fight for survival.
Traore labelled ‘unique worldwide’ by Nuno Espirito Santo
West Ham are expected to pay around £4 million to recruit Traore. Should the Hammers drop into the Championship, the wide man would offer experience in the division having played 35 times in the second tier, with five goals and 10 assists.
Traore’s move comes as West Ham see winger Crysencio Summerville linked with an unexpected move away from the London Stadium. The former Leeds United man has hit form at a dangerous time with the window still open until Monday.
The 24-year-old has three goals and two assists in his last four outings and has been the subject of an enquiry from Tottenham Hotspur. Meanwhile, Traore has been given the green light to leave Fulham with Marco Silva’s side set to sign Oscar Bobb from Manchester City on a £40 million transfer.
Speaking about Traore in 2019, Nuno said: "Adama is unique worldwide. He always has space to give things to the team. His speed, his one-versus-one, there are not many players that can achieve these kind of performances.”
