Jamie Carragher Sends“Don’t Panic”Message To Arsenal Amid‘Set-Piece FC’Criticism

Arsenal have been branded as ‘set-piece FC’ by a lot of football fans, but Jamie Carragher has told them not to panic.

The Gunners suffered their first home defeat of the season over the weekend, as they lost 3-2 to Manchester United in a game that has sent shockwaves all over the Premier League. Arsenal are now just four points ahead of Man City, and they’ll be looking over their shoulder at their rivals.

In the past three seasons, much of Arsenal’s failing to win a Premier League title has been down to their lack of open play goals under Mikel Arteta, and this season remains the same. They rank behind Man City and Aston Villa in terms of open play goals this year, and many believe it could be their Achilles heel again.

Because of this, the ‘set-piece FC’ tag has become a regular feature for Arsenal, but are some fans right to panic about the Gunners’ title charge.

Carragher tells Arsenal not to panic

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher still believes the Gunners will win the league, despite their recent faltering, he said the drop off of Man City and Liverpool has helped Arteta’s side, and they just need to keep their calm.

Carragher said on Sky Sports: “I don’t think it [lack of goals] will [stop Arsenal from winning the league]. I still think Arsenal are the best team in this league, they’ve definitely got the best squad. I mentioned a couple of years ago when Arsenal were going for the league, ‘I’m not sure it gets any better than this for Arsenal’.

“I don’t actually think the team has improved since then, but their squad has improved.I believe this Arsenal team can go on and win the league, because there’s no doubt Man City and Liverpool have dropped off. I just think they need not to panic, go to Leeds next week and get the result that you should get.”

If the Gunners get back to winning ways against Leeds United next weekend, hopefully the criticism will be squashed, and Arsenal can continue on their title charge.
