"A good source tells me..."- Reporter drops significant new Arne Slot claim at Liverpool

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot will no longer be at the club at the end of the season, according to a big new claim from Amazon Prime reporter Marcus Buckland.

Slot is under huge pressure to keep his job at Anfield, with last weekend’s 3-2 defeat away to Bournemouth another bad day in such a disappointing season.

Speaking on Sky Sports on Monday evening, Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher made it clear that Champions League qualification is paramount for the Dutchman:

“If you don’t qualify for the Champions League, having won the league the season before and spent as much as Liverpool, I don’t think you’ve got a leg to stand on. The real worry I have for Liverpool in terms of qualifying for the Champions League is the three big things that stand out in the Premier League now are set-pieces, counter-attacking football and coming up against low blocks.”

Now, speaking on The Tottenham Way podcast [via Empire of the Kop], Buckland has said that Slot will be gone from Liverpool in the summer, with Xabi Alonso waiting in the wings:

“I hear, a good source tells me that Arne Slot is going to leave Liverpool at the end of the season, whatever happens, so Xabi Alonso is going to sit.”

Does Arne Slot need a miracle at this point?

While Liverpool may not decide to sack Slot in the near future, it does feel as though he has reached the point of no return, with performances and results nowhere near good enough this season.

At this point, the 47-year-old will need to see drastic improvements in order to keep his job, with too many supporters losing faith in him, despite his Premier League-winning brilliance last season.

Alonso is the dream appointment for many, given his Liverpool past, while Paris Saint-Germain boss Luis Enrique is another standout option, should he decide to leave the Ligue 1 giants at the end of the season.

In an ideal world, Slot would turn things around and enjoy a wonderful spell with the Reds, but as things stand, it feels like a matter of time before he goes, rather than if he does.
