Liverpool manager Arne Slot is coming under increasing pressure at Anfield following a run of five games without a win in the Premier League

Slot’s side conceded a 95th-minute goal against Bournemouth on Saturday night to extend their winless run in the Premier League to five games. Before that defeat, they had drawn with Burnley, Arsenal, Fulham and Leeds United.

They have won games in January, as they beat League One side Barnsley in the FA Cup and recorded an impressive 3-0 victory over Marseille in the Champions League last week. Victory over Qarabag FK in their final league phase game will see them qualify for the round of 16.

If they fail to win, they risk dropping out of the top eight and contesting a knock-out play-off next month.

The performances and results for much of the season has seen the pressure increase on Slot as he faces a crunch period of Premier League games in the coming weeks. The Reds host Newcastle United and Manchester City before facing Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

The Liverpool hero is said to have informed club owners Fenway Sports Group that he would be ready to manage the club on an interim basis if they changed manager before the end of the campaign.

Gerrard won the Scottish Premiership title with Rangers but had a less successful spell in charge of Aston Villa. He most recently managed in the Saudi Pro League but is currently available for management.

Speaking in December, Gerrard admitted he would love to return to Liverpool in some capacity.

He added: “I don’t want the Arne Slot to lose his job. I want him to fix this and turn it around and make Liverpool great. I was bouncing all over the city four or five months ago when Liverpool won the league.

"I’m a Liverpool fan. I want the best for Liverpool. But if Liverpool need me in any department at any time, I’ll be there for them."
