The Knicks and Suns are exploring a swap of Guerschon Yabusele for Nick Richards, with Phoenix also moving Nigel Hayes-Davis' salary to avoid the luxury tax, as all three players struggle for consistent playing time this season.
The New York Knicks and Phoenix Suns have discussed a potential swap involving power forward Guerschon Yabusele and center Nick Richards, according to Evan Sidery of Forbes.
As part of the deal, Phoenix would also send forward Nigel Hayes-Davis' minimum salary to a facilitating team to avoid paying the luxury tax.
Yabusele, who made an NBA comeback last season with the Philadelphia 76ers, joined the Knicks in the offseason on a two-year, $11.7 million contract.
Things haven't gone as planned in New York, though. He has yet to find a role in Mike Brown's rotation, averaging just 2.8 points and 2.1 rebounds in 9.2 minutes across 38 games.
Richards is in a similar situation in Phoenix. The 28-year-old center is also out of the rotation this season, averaging 3.2 points and 3.3 rebounds in 9.1 minutes over 28 games.
Hayes-Davis, who arrived from Fenerbahce last offseason as the EuroLeague Final Four MVP, has struggled to secure consistent playing time, too. The 31-year-old is averaging 1.4 points and 1.3 rebounds in 7.6 minutes across 24 games.
He signed a one-year, fully guaranteed contract with the Suns, valued at approximately $2.05 million.
