Matheus Cunha has revealed the message that Michael Carrick has given to the Manchester United squad. Carrick was named by United as their interim head coach until the end of the campaign after Ruben Amorim's departure earlier this month.
Since arriving at Old Trafford, Carrick has guided the team to victories in both fixtures against Manchester City and Arsenal.
The Red Devils most recently secured a 3-2 triumph away at table-toppers Arsenal on Sunday night, with Cunha finding the net alongside Bryan Mbeumo and Patrick Dorgu.
The result propelled United into fourth spot in the Premier League standings, moving above Liverpool and Chelsea, as the battle for Champions League places intensifies.
Cunha netted the decisive goal for United at the Emirates Stadium, and the summer arrival from Wolves has detailed how Carrick has succeeded in galvanising the dressing room throughout the opening weeks of his spell as interim boss, reports the Manchester Evening News.
"He knows the feeling, he played here so many years. He knows the feeling for Manchester, he knows the feeling for United,” Cunha told BBC Sport.
“He knows how the fans want to feel. He tried to show us every single moment, he tried to talk us to understand in moments and say 'everyone is against us', so I think we feel more together."
Cunha also offered a glimpse into the mentality of the United team that enabled them to secure the triumph against Arsenal, having fought back from trailing at the break and then responding after conceding an equalser in the closing ten minutes in North London.
"I think we showed character and power in the group,” Cunha said. “We know what to expect, come here, I think it's the best team in the world today, honestly.

“They play with Mikel (Arteta) so long, they know every single tactics, every single thing that he feels, so we know how hard it will to be to come here, but we are United and everything we do is to win the games."
United's upcoming fixture will see them welcome Fulham to Old Trafford in the Premier League, where Carrick and his team will be aiming to secure three consecutive victories to enhance their prospects of Champions League qualification.
