Ben Jacobs Names The 15 G/A England International Liverpool Do Want As Adam Wharton Claims Are Rubbished

**Liverpool are not interested in signing Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton, but they could pursue his England teammate Morgan Rogers, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.**

Writing in _GiveMeSport_‘s newsletter, Jacobs rubbished reports that Wharton has agreed personal terms with the Reds, and he claims the Merseyside club are seeking options further up the pitch:

“Suggestions Wharton has already agreed a five-year deal with Liverpool are wide of the mark. Liverpool’s priorities lie elsewhere, both in terms of targets and positions.”

“I sense if a midfielder is to arrive at Anfield this year, it will more likely be one with goals output who can also play in wide areas. Morgan Rogers is the type of profile some withing Liverpool appreciate.”

Rogers has had an impressive season

The England international has been one of Aston Villa’s key players in their march up the table in recent months.

Rogers has scored 8 goals and provided 7 assists in all competitions for Unai Emery’s side, having helped them to 3rd place in the Premier League, just four points adrift of leaders Arsenal and ten ahead of Liverpool.

Wharton is likely to move to one of Liverpool’s rivals

While it appears that the midfielder is not a target for Arne Slot’s team, he will have several other suitors at the end of the season.

Jacobs has confirmed that Manchester City, Manchester United and Bayern Munich have all made informal enquiries about Wharton already, while Tottenham are also said to be keen.

Some Liverpool fans will argue that the Reds do need another progressive passer in the middle of the park, but the priority for sporting director Richard Hughes seems to be [**wingers**](https://walkon.com/blog/liverpool-transfer-news-yan-diomande-5/), or at the very least, goal threats who can play out wide. That seems sensible, considering Mo Salah could leave Anfield at the end of the season.
