FC Barcelona Predicted Lineup vs FC Copenhagen: Team News for Champions League Game

FC Barcelona will be eager to punch their ticket to the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League when they host FC Copenhagen on Wednesday.

The Blaugrana sit in ninth place in the UCL league phase standings, one spot out of the automatic qualification spots for the Round of 16. They are tied on 13 points with Chelsea, Newcastle United and Paris Saint-Germain, and just one point behind Tottenham Hotspur.

Barca would need a win, and for one of the clubs ahead of them to drop points if they want to slot into the top-eight and get a bye to the last 16. If not, they'll enter a two-legged playoff for the remaining eight knockout spots.

The Catalans enjoyed a 4-2 win over Slavia Prague on Matchday 7 in a tricky away fixture that saw them concede an early goal.

They followed that with a 3-0 win over Real Oviedo in La Liga on Sunday to maintain their one-point lead over Real Madrid at the top of the league table.

FC Copenhagen, meanwhile, also have a lot to play for on Wednesday, as they currently sit outside the knockout playoff qualification zone. They are tied on eight points with four teams ahead of them, and a draw in Barcelona could see them keep their Champions League dream alive.

The Danish side settled for a 1-1 draw with Napoli last week after registering two consecutive wins in the competition. The Lions currently sit in fifth place in the Danish Superliga, 12 points adrift of leaders AGF.

Gerard Martin should once again join Pau Cubarsi in the center of defense, while Fermin Lopez should get the start as the No. 10 after scoring a brace in Prague a week ago.
