Here we go: Barcelona seal agreement to sign 18-year-old defensive talent

FC Barcelona continue to make solid progress on the youth recruitment front in the ongoing January transfer window.

After securing deals to sign Hamza Abdelkarim and Patricio Pacifico, on loan with buy options, the Blaugrana have now landed the signing of Juwensley Onstein.

Indeed, Fabrizio Romano confirms that Barcelona have indeed sealed the agreement to sign the 18-year-old Dutch defender from Genk in Belgium.

Onstein, an extremely talented young centre-half, was on the verge of sealing a move to AC Milan in Serie A. The teenager also had interest from Bayern Munich.

However, the moment he became aware of Barcelona’s interest, he gave the La Liga champions his top priority, and the club have now been successful in closing the deal for Onstein.

The 18-year-old talent will join the Barça Atletic squad under Juliano Belletti once his signing is made official. He will then hope to progress in the reserve ranks and break into the first-team setup managed by Hansi Flick.
